I have exactly one vote and one voice in this election. Still I hope my vote will count and my voice can be heard. After analyzing the policies from both parties, I concluded that President Obama is still the best choice for America.

The last four years had not been easy on us, but the economy is recovering. While I admire Mitt Romney’s background in business, his interests aren’t in creating jobs. Like most MBA candidates I had witnessed from working at the school of business, Romney is all about profits. The Sensata controversy is a perfect example. Romney who has a major investment in Sensata, which owned by Bain Capital, hasn’t say a word about the fact that the company will be closed down and moved to China on the day before the election. While Romney is campaigning about bringing jobs back to the US, his investment and profitability is in shipping jobs to China.

Healthcare issue is much more personal to me. I have been getting back to my regular checkups thanks to the Obama-care. I don’t have to pay a dime out of my pocket for these preventive cares. While $25 copay might not be an issue for one person. We have four family members. Between physical and dental checkups twice a year and flu shots, they do add up. Still that’s not a big deal. My biggest concern is the voucher system proposed by Romney and Ryan. I don’t want to see my mother and my parent-in-law having to deal with the insurance companies. Let the seniors have a peace of mind with guaranteed healthcare.

On national security, Obama has pulled our troops out of Iraq and winding down in Afghanistan. Under his strong leadership, we destroyed our number one enemy: Osama bin Laden. Unlike what Romney has continuously accused him of apologizing, Obama has strengthened our relationships with our allies around the world.

On domestic issues, the President supports higher education, equal pay for equal work and gay marriage. While I have nothing but respect for people with faiths, I don’t want their religious beliefs to be imposed on me. If Romney and Ryan win the election, they would likely to appoint U.S. Supreme Court justices who oppose gay marriage, abortion and even contraceptive for women.

I endorsed and voted for Obama in 2008. Four years had been a huge change in my life. I am blessed with two wonderful boys and moved on to a great job. I am much better off today than four years ago. The country is also in a much better shape today than four years ago. If Obama is re-elected, I am positive that the next four years would be prosperous for America.

I can’t believe I am actually doing print work. Updated the graphic section with three new pieces from my Advanced Typography class. The latest piece is the restaurant menu design (pdf). The other pieces are from the previous projects: movie posters (pdf) and film rating system (pdf). More to come at the end of the year.

I I can’t believe I have been at Mason Law over a year already. This new gig has been nothing but positive.

In retrospect, it has been a productive year. I redesigned the Law School’s website using responsive web design and brought the codes up to the latest standards. I created a number of websites to serve the faculty, students, and staff including faculty personal web pages, the law library’s blog, student organizations sites, the Admissions Intranet, and various websites for other law school programs. I even started a blog to keep track of the projects I have worked on as well as notes and references to do my work.

My goal for this coming year is to update the content management system for the law school’s website to the latest version of MODX Revolution, migrate CAAS from Drupal to WordPress, and maybe a new design for the Law web site as well.

The folks I have been working with are fantastic. I can’t ask for anything better. It was indeed a great decision to take on this new position.

We stopped by Jerry’s sub because I was hungry and “Gangnam Style” played on the radio. Dao busted his moves and sang along: “Oppa is Gangnam style.” It was just hilarious.

President Obama put on an impressive performance last night. He finally pointed out about Romney’s 47% comment at the closing statement so that Romney couldn’t response. That was quite a clever move. He also attacked Romney on “one-point” economic plan, which is “to make sure that the folks at the top play by a different set of rules,” and his tie to Bain Capital: “You can invest in a company, bankrupt it, lay off the workers, strip away their pensions, and you still make money.” I wish Obama brought up Bainport when Romney talked about bringing job back to the US.

On the flip side, the bullying Romney made two big missteps. He attacked Obama on the “act of terror” statement and wanted it to be on the record and Candry Crowley called him out on it: “[Obama] did, in fact, sir.” On the topic of women, Romney has binders full of them. Ouch!

Now I can say, “I told you so.”

A 16-year-old boy says why it’s important to vote for Barack Obama:

Well, the most important reason for me is health care. I’m an only child and my mom’s a breast cancer survivor. With Obamacare we can get insurance. And so if Mom gets sick again, she can see a doctor. But did you know that Mitt Romney wants to take it away from us? If he wins, my mom won’t be able to get insurance. And if she gets sick, there’s nothing she can do.

This is our future president.

So let’s be brutally honest here. The Romney-Ryan position on health care is that many millions of Americans must be denied health insurance, and millions more deprived of the security Medicare now provides, in order to save money. At the same time, of course, Mr. Romney and Mr. Ryan are proposing trillions of dollars in tax cuts for the wealthy. So a literal description of their plan is that they want to expose many Americans to financial insecurity, and let some of them die, so that a handful of already wealthy people can have a higher after-tax income.

Dan and I were waiting outside of Thanh Son’s tofu while Dung and Dao went in to by some sweet treats. I witnessed once again the lady (in her 40s) who sells banh it scamming people. The victims where two young teenagers. The guy was carrying a flower pot and waking with a girl. The lady pulled the girl over and asked her to buy so banh it. The two teenagers appeared to speak very little Vietnamese. Out of sympathy, the girl asked how much for a buddle of banh it. The lady said $8, but sell for $5. The girl agreed to get $5 worth of banh it, but the lady demanded that the girl give her $20. The girl pulled $20 out of her purse. The lady took two more bundles of banh it and gave it to the girl without giving back her change. The girl said in Vietnamese, “The whole $20?” She replied yes and tried to change the conversation about the flower pot. Then the two kids walked away. I shook my head in disbelief.

The lady pulled this exact scam on me before. At first I was intending to help her out because the weather was cold and she was standing there all alone on a Wednesday evening. She caught me after I bought some hot, fried tofu from Thanh Son. Unlike the kids, I took my money back and walked away. Now she leaves me alone every time I go to Thanh Son.

Still I was upset that she tricked the two kids. Fortunately the kids brought back their aunts and mom and demanded the refund. The lady gave back everything. She could have made a $5 sell instead of scamming people and got nothing at the end. If you go to Eden Center, don’t fall for this scam. There are people who sells other things like hot peppers, vegetables and herbs. They are pretty decent. You can negotiate the price, but they don’t scam you like that one lady.

I kind of missed the lady who sells goodies outside of Hai Ky Mi Gia. Her goodies and prices were decent. She always played with Cu Dao when he was around one or so. She isn’t there any more.

We went to mexican grill yesterday. Dao took his first bite of the nachos and said quite loud, “It’s terrible.” Both my wife and I were shocked. We glad that the place was not too crowed and the employees didn’t hear us. Then later on he liked the corns and wanted more. I took him to the register and he spoke to the lady, “More corns, please.”

Yesterday he came and sat next to me. Then he asked him mom, “Mommy, do you want to sit next to me?” His mom said yes and he told me, “Daddy, you need to get out.” Though the was inappropriate, the way he said it kind of hilarious. That’s my troublesome Dao.

He always loves visiting his cousins Eric and Sammy. He and Eric could run around the house playing hide and seek all day. Sammy has been playing and teaching him stuff on the iPad, which he really likes.

As for Dan, his appetite has been increasing. He drinks more milk and eats much more. Feeding him is a joy because he could finish a bowl of whatever in five minutes. If I don’t feed him fast enough he would be fuzzy. He continues to use the word “đi” (go) and always wants to go somewhere. he could not sit still for even one second. He still likes to lick things, but he could tell when we disapproved his action. When he’s about to but a toy car into his mouth, I said, “hey hey hey…” and he stopped. If he’s crawling and I come after him, he would crawl quicker or climb up the steps much quicker. I call him “Dan Lật Đật”.
