Truyện mở đầu với sự cố sinh non của một cậu bé bị dị tật tinh hoàn. Tôi tưởng rằng “thằng không chim” nói về intersex nên tôi lấy làm hứng thú để đọc vì tôi hy vọng Gào khai thác về đề tài phức tạp này. Nhưng kết quả làm tôi thất vọng vì cốt truyện chỉ dừng lại ở tình cảm tay ba. Câu chuyện ngắn gọn không dở nhưng hơi tiếc nuối vì thiếu đi sự kỳ vọng mà Gào đã đặt ra trong phần đầu của sách.
Tôi chưa bao giờ nghe cái tên Gào nhưng có người giới thiệu nên đọc thử. Tự sát là một truyện tiểu thuyết ngắn gọn (gồm 138 trang) hợp với giới trẻ hơn cho tôi. Câu chuyện cũng được nhưng quá ngắn nên những nhân vật không đủ thời gian để ngắm vào người đọc. Cách viết của Gào cũng được nhưng vội vã nên không phát triển được những nhân vật của mình. Sau “Tự sát,” Gào thêm vào những bài viết ngắn để tạo cho sách được 200 trang. Cho nên những chuyện ngắn ấy bị thừa đi.
Hôm nay trở lại Facebook thấy gia đình người ta đi du lịch ngắm nhìn cảnh vật thế giới. Vợ chồng con cái hưỡng thụ những giây phút nhẹ nhàng. Hình ảnh chụp thật tuyệt vời.
Khi gia đình tôi đi du lịch thì ầm ĩ. Hai thằng con lớn không ngồi yên. Thằng giữa thì la lối ôm sòm. Đi chơi còn mệt hơn cả đi làm. Không la đứa này thì hét đứa nọ. Từ chổ ăn đến chổ ở chẳng có giây phút nào được thư gi ãn trừ khi lúc chúng nó ngủ.
Gia đình của tôi là thế đấy. Nhưng rồi cũng quen. Không có bọn chúng quấy nhiễu cũng buồn. Tụi nó chẳng cũng thế. Không bị cha mẹ rầy la nó chịu không nổi. Thôi thì hình nhà ai nấy đẹp đi vậy. Được có thời gian cho nhau là quý lắm rồi.
Aziz Ansari had a rough year about a sexual allegation, but he came out great. I am digging the new Aziz. His materials are more thoughtful particularly on race, culture, and this moment. He is more casual and he connects with his audience. He takes them to intimate places with him. A needed rebirth of an Indian-American comedian. I enjoyed this one more than his previous stand-up specials.
In the past several weeks, I have been getting better sleep at night. I made several small changes to my routines. I don’t drink coffee anymore. I only take a few sip if my wife had one to satisfy my craving. I do not read at night after the kids go to sleep. I leave my iPhone outside of my bedroom, which mean no more reading on screen or watching Netflix. I don’t blog at night. I also don’t do any personal work at night. I also deactivated Facebook for several weeks. I reactivated today but I am not planning on spending too much time on it.
Getting enough sleep has helped me so much. I feel better. I don’t get a migraine in the evening and at night. My next step is getting back to some leisure exercising like walking and jogging. I need to take better care of myself.

After launching the third iteration of Visualgui 2019 a couple weeks ago, I already switched out to different font. As much as I liked IBM Plex Sans Variable, it quickly became too much like IBM; therefore, I switched to Literata. Then I added Halyard for small text. Then changed up the headlines with Gimlet Banner. Then ended up switched the main text to Pliego. I like to play around with more typefaces than just using one; therefore, variable font might not necessary work for me. Since this is my personal blog, I get to experiment with it quite a bit.
Speaking of personal blog, I am glad to see designers leaving Medium and starting their own blog again. Hylia seems like a promising starter kit to get blogging. Unfortunately I have no idea how to use it. I am still running on the good ole solid WordPress. I trying to keep it as simple as possible. No comments. No Webmentions. No trackbacks. No photos. No tracking. No JavaScript. None. I don’t care if people are linking back here anymore. My subject matters are highly personal. There’s no added value for no one else but myself. Let’s keep it that way.

Những cảm xúc xót xa, đớn đau, mạnh mẽ, tốt xấu, và xung sướng cho kẻ mua vui đọng lại trên từng câu văn của tác giả. Đàn bà của Thạch thảm thương quá. Đọc cũng hay nhưng không nỡ đọc lại.
I have never been a fan of Mike Epps’s comic style. He’s too much clowning for me. Nevertheless, I gave Only One Mike shot and still didn’t like it. His materials are crude (too much on sex) and all over the place. The only subject matter that stood out was when he revealed that he was picked up and placed in special education.
The heavily pregnant Colleen Ballinger transformed into her Miranda Sings character. She combines dancing, singing, and social-media advising into her standup special: Miranda Sings Live…Your Welcome. The show is filled with screaming kids and their parents. I am not sure if they got the Comic Sans joke.
I have not heard of Katherine Ryan before, but her Glitter Room becomes my latest favorite. She is a feminist and she isn’t shy away from it. She trashed men a lot, but you simply can’t be mad at her. Her materials are thoughtful and funny. She takes on Celine Dion, R. Kelly, and Bill Cosby. The little history about Alexander Hamilton is quite good. I love this one.
