Fantastic Dad

Sau khi ăn no nê Đán nói, “You are a fantastic dad.” Lần đầu tiên được thằng con khen tôi tất vui tuy cái bill 95 đô và 20 đô tiền tip. Thấy hai thằng con ăn ngon miệng cũng đáng.

Upgrade Law School Website to MODX Revolution

On the front-end, nothing has changed to the Law School website, but the backend is completely upgraded. We migrated the entire site to a brand new dedicated server, upgraded to the latest version of MODX Revolution, and switched to HTTPS. Anthony Harvey is the mad genius who has made all of these happened. He is such an amazing developer. If it was not for him, we would still be stuck in the good ole MODX Evolution. He responded to tons of my questions with patience. I am so grateful for his work.

What He Eats Doesn’t Make Me Shit

I don’t care if he likes to eat his steak well-done with ketchup. In fact, I don’t give a fuck if he likes to eat shit and get peed on. I am not worried that he eats like a five-year-old, but I am deeply terrified that a five-year-old is running our country.

Gay Sex?

A man said to me, “Go ahead and stick it in.” I complied, “Sure.” Thirty seconds later he instructed, “OK you can pull it out now.” I protested, “Already?” He replied, “Yes.” I don’t know if he was thinking what I was thinking, but it was the closest gay sex I ever experienced. Don’t worry mommy, I was not cheating on you. He was a cashier who told me to stick the chip on my credit card into the machine.

Functioning Under Stress

As much as I would love to live a stress-free life, I find that it is impossible. Being a parent of three boys is stressful, and yet when I am being without them, I feel so empty. Sure, I would be somewhat less stress, but also lifeless. I don’t that either.

One of the most stressful part of my works is administrating the servers. I am more of a design than an IT, but I have learned so much. I would rather have someone else take care of that portion, but seeing how things work on the backend fascinates me. Without that responsibility would be less stressful, but also boring. I don’t know.

Shit, my moma got stroke in her head. Don’t ask me why I’m motherfucking stressed. I don’t know how to handle this stress. It is killing me.

Việt Thanh Nguyễn: The Refugees

Somehow I had mistaken Việt Thanh Nguyễn’s The Refugees as a collection of non-fiction short stories. After reading the first piece, which is about ghosts, I quickly realized that this is a work of fiction. Nevertheless, I went on to finish the whole book. Nguyễn’s narrative writing is understated yet emotional. From a young gay refugee to a Vietnamese professor who suffered dementia to a half sister who used an alternative career, the short stories are beautifully crafted and imagined. My only pet peeve is that Nguyễn omitted accents for Vietnamese words. For a Vietnamese author, not using diacritics is inexcusable.

Minimalist Web Design

Nick Babich:

When it comes to minimalism, don’t think it’s easier just because it’s simpler. Because there are fewer elements, you must provide the same level of usability with less interface elements.

For over 15 years of practicing minimal design, I still am in love with it.

Boys’ Talk

While taking a bubble bath together, Đạo said to Đán, “Did you know that girls don’t have cu (penis).” Đán did not say anything as he was busy playing with the water; therefore, I asked Đạo what do girls have. He replied, “Something like a half butt crack.”
