VisualGUI on Drugs

Oh shit! VisualGUI got drugged. Damn, that Ecstasy fucks up my visibility.

Oh yeah! Isn’t she cute or what? (Damn! I am definitely drugged. I need to get off that X)

Swamped

What a Monday morning? Still freezing in Poughkeepsie. It feels like the wind blows my brain out. My car broke down. I am completely swamped with both personal and Vassar works. I am so hungry and they are not making anymore oatmeal because the students are on spring break. The campus is so empty without the students.

Another Classic

Just finished watching Rebecca, another classic disturbing drama from the master of suspense, Alfred Hitchcock. The woman housekeeper is so creepy and mysterious. It’s a great film. Anyhow, I began to appreciate classic movies after taking a course at Lasalle called Film as Art. The course focused on critical evaluations of the work of a diverse but representative group of outstanding films and filmmakers. It was one of my favorite class and Bill Wine (the professor) was excellent. In fact, I liked it so much that I went on to take another course called Critical Approaches to Film. The course traced the history of the medium of American film, analyzed it chronologically, as well as genre by genre, from its inception at the turn of the last century through its place in society as we begin a new century. This course was taught by Bro. Gerry and he was outstanding. Not only we had to analyzed the films but we had to acted out a scene from a movie in a small group. I played Gavin Elster (Tom Helmore) in Vertigo and Lyle (Dennis Hopper) in Red Rock West. It was nerve-racking because I had never done anything like that before. It turned out well at the end and I enjoyed it.

Sickest Lyrics

After listening to the first two lines of Ignition by R Kelly, I couldn’t take it anymore. The first line he said, “You remind me of something, I just can’t think of what it is.” You remind me of a child molester, that’s it. He went on, “Girl, please let me stick my key in your ignition, babe.” Hope he didn’t used this metaphor on a child. Sick bastard!

Hatred and Racism

Watched American History X last night, a powerful film that depicts hatred and racism. Edward Norton performance is outstanding throughout the film. The illest part is when he ordered the black kid to bite the concrete then he stepped on his head. That crushed sound gave me a chill. The truth about racism illustrated in this movie shocked me deeply.

New Photos

Check out the studio.

Flash Web Experience

I must admit, Macromedia had used Flash to its full potential on its site. They had taken the web experience to a whole new level with Flash. After surfing around the site, I am thrilled with the user experience. For instance, the front page remembered where I was before when I returned to it. When I went to Flash exchange to download a component. Found the component I wanted and clicked to download. It took me to a sign in screen. I went on to create a new account because I wanted to see how it works. After filling out the form, it automatically downloaded the component for me. It did all that work without having to leave the page. That’s incredible.

Flash Usable Interface

Love the interface design on Joshua Davis/Praystation. It’s straight forward, intuitive, and highly usable.

Flash Mad Wicked Motion

The animations and soundtracks from Insert Silence are raw rough and rugged. There are no words to describe it. You just have to experience it for yourself. Enjoy!

Mai Yeu Em – Ly Hai

This song reminded me of Tran so much. She always sang it to me when we were on the Viet Nam tour. We had a great time together and I will never forget those magical moments we shared.

“Tinh la nhu the, khong yeu khong dau, nhoi buot trai tim goi la tinh yeu, nguoi lam ta dau mai mai ta khong trach nguoi. How I love you. My darling, How I need you… Gio ngoi co don giua troi. Tim hinh bong em yeu da qua. Long nhoi moi khi tieng the nhan che cuoi. I will love you, till I die. Toi con yeu em, yeu ngat ngay.”

Unique Digital Illustrations

Mild violence, brief nudity but sexy as hell Digital Illustrations by Richard Brown.

A Night Alone

Had a great time yesterday being alone. It was snowing so I just felt like kicking back and enjoying the rest of the evening. After work, I dropped by the library to check out some classic movies. On the way home, I stopped the liquor store and picked out a Remy Red bottle. After eating two bags of hot as hell Thai noodles, I kicked back relaxed and watched A Clockwork Orange while enjoyed Remy Red with Kho Bo (Vietnamese Style Beef Jerky). This is the real Kho Bo I brought back from the Viet Nam trip. It’s really hot and spicy but the drink cools it down nicely. My gosh, A Clockwork Orange is a most bizarre, violence, disturbed, and fucked up movie I have ever seen. This is simply one of the best Stanley Kubrick’s movie. It’s a must see film.

The Guy Behind D3studio

Many has been wondering, how come there is no photo of Donny Digital on this site? Well, I would like to remain anonymous. Besides, I don’t want to risk loosing my visitors after seeing my photo. As a guess to this site, you are very important to me and I do anything I can to fulfilled your request; therefore, you will get a sneak peak of me. Here it is, please don’t freak out, alright.

Back to the Basic

Based in Philly, LucidCircus was known for its cutting-edge Flash design; however, they decided to take a clean and simple route for their latest redesign. The outcome is quite impressive. Like Albert Einstein said, “Everything should be made as simple as possible, but not simpler.”

Upcoming Project

Latin American Studies Program is my new project. The current design was my first quick assignment when I first started working at Vassar.

Snowing

Our campus tour is cancelled again due to the snow. All this time working at Vassar, I have never took an official tour of the campus. Every time we set up a date, it snowed. What a coincident!

Hooked

While the motion design from Tetsoo production blew my mind, Sullen Girl got me hooked on her monologues, stories and poetries. I am also addicted to oatmeal with cranberries in the morning.

Praise!

Received this email from my boss’s boss on the Studio Gallery site.

“You did a fantastic job with this site. I love it and am sure others on campus will too. You did a great job navigating the various complexities in putting this together. Anyhow, great work and thanks.” -Susan

It really makes my day. It’s encouraging to hear people appreciates my work. Thanks everyone for the positive feedbacks on the site.

Render Avenue V5

The new Render Avenue is clean but busy. The color schemes are pleasing and very similar to d3studio.

Macromedia Beta

The new Macromedia web site is clean and organized; however, it’s not as impressive as the previous versions.

Nice Site

My Linh web site is quite attractive. Little bit busy but nice use of colors. She’s actually really cute. I am not a big fan of My Linh however I really enjoyed “Phut Giay Lo Lam” she performed with Lam Truong.

Pac Joints

Bumpin’ 2pac joints all day today: All Eyez on Me, Makaveli, Are You Still Down, and 2pac Greatest Hits. When I had a bad day and needed to escape from all the madness, I just turn to 2pac. He was the realist and I could feel it through his troubled lyrics.

In his classic, Trapped, he expressed, “What do I do? Live my life in a prison cell. I’d rather die than be trapped in a living hell. They got me trapped.”

In Troublesome 96, he shouted, “Young, strapped, and I don’t give a fuck. I’m HOPELESS. I live the Thug Life, losin’ my focus BABY. I’m troublesome.” Damn, wish I could just don’t give a flying fuck anymore when I’m hopeless.

Changing Position

The search box is now buried all the way under the left side menu. Isn’t the search box is an important of the a site and shouldn’t it be prominent? Yes, a search box is absolutely important for usability; however, this site is fairly small and the navigation is straightforward. I don’t think users would have a hard time finding their way around the site. In fact, I encourage visitors to spend some time check out my work and read some of my thoughts. I don’t want you to come to my house, get some hot sauce then bounce out. Once you at my crib, I want you to spend a little time with me, listen to 2pac, play some Street Fighter, watch Jet Li in action or do whatever. Anyhow, the search box is definitely a nice enhancement to the site. It’s a great product from Atomz. It’s very easy to set up and extremely flexible with the design. Highly recommended!

Update!

Notice anything different on this site? A search box is added on the upper right hand side corner. Search results at D3studio.net are powered by Atomz search engine.

Bowdoin College

Love the elegant look and feel of Bowdoin College website. The Flash homepage is slick, attractive and usable. Furthermore, the random use of colors on the homepage is very clever. The secondary pages are clean and simple as well. Great job!

Elements K

Off da Hook

The illustration is hot. The colors are cool. The layout is clean. Tunapuff is off da hook.

Great Movies

Chinatown is classically brilliant. I love Jack Nicholson performance. Similar to One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest (highly recommended), he knows how to go overboard. He convinced me to want to find out the truth. Who murdered Mr. Mulwray? He was in almost every scene of the movie; therefore, I only get to see his point of view. As a result, I think just like him. What shocked me the most is the woman role in this movie. Evelyn Mulwray is a beautiful and elegant woman who was raped by her own father then got shot through her eye at the end. Unlike most of other movies, the good girl died and the bad guy stayed free and wealthy. After she got shot, I was like, “Fuck no, that’s not the end.” I hated when director plays with your mind like that and Roman Polanski was good at it.

One of Hitchcock’s masterpiece, Psycho is straight up psycho. The music score alone is creepy as hell. Of course, everyone knows about the infamous shower scene; however, the clean up and the car sinks were my two favorite scenes. After Norman Bates cleaned up the room and put everything in the car, I was like, “What about the money?” Then he came back to the room, picked up the newspaper and threw it in the trunk. I love little details like that. As Norman Bates was hoping for the car to sink completely, the car stopped at halfway through. The expression from Norman’s face was like, “Oh my god, what am I going to do now?” About a minute later the car sank completely and he was satisfied. Hitchcock is great at teasing his viewers. Hitchcock was also playing with psychological multiple personality disorder which reminded me of Edward Norton extraordinary performance in Primal Fear. I am wondering if Primal Fear stole Hitchcock’s idea. Sort of like Sliver stole the idea of peeping at others people privacy from Rear Window. Ooops, I am going off the topic here. Let me stop.

Made in Vietnam

My Linh latest album, which she has worked hard on for three years, might not be able to release due to the controversial of her album titled “Made in Vietnam.” They claimed her album title might misinterpreted the quality of the Vietnamese music. Big fucking deal. It’s only an album title. Imagine if Eminem made an album in Vietnam, his ass would have been locked up due to controversial lyrics. Better yet, they probably pissed the hell off to hear Heart2Exist expressed themselves in “25 Years, Who I am.”

Now the communist, are in control
The bloody flags are waving in the bitter cold
No freedom of speech, no right to vote
That’s why we left, in our fishing boats
No equality, no human rights
Forced to escape, we loss so many lives
So here we are, in the U.S. of A
To start a new life, it’s a brand new day.
