Complexity in Simplicity

Nas Hamid’s “Design is in the Details“:

When we discuss “less is more”, we mean different things. For example, sometimes the design needs to scale back. It’s got too many elements. Or a design chokes itself with too many colors. When doing detail work, “less is more” is about leaving in only everything that is necessary and making it harmonious. Let the complexity be in the simplicity—a design is not useful when it’s perceived to be complex. A design should be useful, simple, and straightforward—let the complexity shine through via simplicity.

“Another”

This classic tune from Biggie and Lil Kim goes out to the boy who got cheated on. Take Biggie’s advice:

What do ya do when yo’ bitch is untrue?
You cut that hooker off and find someone new
I need another bitch (another bitch), in my life

Beautiful Morning, Ugly Commute

I woke up half an hour early to commute with the sisters to work. The morning was perfect. The weather was nice. We sat hand-in-hand on the bus. I switched to Metro and jammed my jazz-vocal collection for the wedding. Arrived at Foggy Bottom at 7:40 and take a strolled around the block to enjoy the morning sun. Walked up to the office while the building was still quiet. Booted up my laptop and fucked. I forgot my power cord. I wouldn’t be able to do work without power. Ran to the bookstore to see if they sell the little adaptor that would connect with the wire, but they wouldn’t sell it separately. The only thing left to do was to take the damn Metro and the bus home to get the freaking power cord. I wasted another two hours commuting back and forth. As I got back to work, the boss told me I could have spent 75 bucks on another power cord. Damn!

What a Gorgeous Morning

I am hanging out at Radley Acura dealer using complimentary wireless Internet, blogging and listening to jazz-instrumental ballads I have selected for the wedding. Art Pepper’s “História De Un Amor” is now playing. Thanks to TTBlue for this stunningly beautiful track. I wonder if Radley has complimentary car wash like Heart Acura in Wappingers Falls, New York. I hope it does because it charges forty bucks plus tax for an oil change. I might have to change own oil next time for this high price.

Last night, three of us finished two fat-ass fish for dinner. Overstuffed and a bit buzzed is not a good combination. Once again, I ate more than I could take. I was enjoying it too much. Grilled fish rolled up with lettuce, herbs, cucumber, apple and dipped into mam nem. With a bottle of Korean raspberry wine to wash down the saltiness of mam nem and jazz ballads to mix up the mood, life can’t get any better than this.

The weather is so nice today, I can’t wait to get home and do some jogging. From eating right to running up and down the six-story building at work to jogging a mile at home everyday, I dropped 10 pounds in three weeks. This is a good sign.

Update: Not a good sign. Radley’s recommendation on my car, including motor mounts, alignment and power-steering fluid, runs up to a grant. What the fuck?
