The K-Word
As we sat on the couch, Đán said to Đạo, “Don’t tell Khôi. I am going to kill myself.” Đạo didn’t pay attention, but I was shocked and furious. “Why did you say that?” I asked Đán and he responded, “Because he hates me.”
I was deeply wounded as if a knife just cut through my gut, but I had to explain to him that it is not something to take lightly. I am positive that Khôi (his cousin) did not say that. Even if he did hate him so what. People will hate him, but that is not his fault. I do not want to hear him to think like that anymore. I am not sure if my words sink in or not.
I ask him where did he learn that from and he told me he heard it from Đạo. Again, I know Đạo doesn’t say that kind of thing. His dishonesty also concerns me. He says some of the most ridiculous, outrageous things even though he has such a sweet personality. At school, he is doing well. He gets along with all of his classmates and his teacher has not raised any issue with him. Still, I have to keep an eye and ear on this kid.
